Jonathan was born July 5, 1982, in Sioux City, Iowa. A 2001 graduate of Sioux City North High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 2005 and a law degree (J.D.) in 2009, both at the University of Iowa. He also held a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Minnesota.

Jonathan was an avid reader. He parlayed that passion into producing an author-interview show, "Having Read That" on KSCJ Radio in Sioux City. He had a broad and eclectic love for music. He enjoyed movies and made a point to watch all Oscar-nominated films each year.

A sports enthusiast, he loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and World Cup Soccer. He enjoyed traveling and was always up for new adventures, especially if they included spending time with friends and family.

He was a bondsman at Lederman Bail Bonds, as well as a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association and was a member of Iowa City Learning Foundation.

Jonathan met the love of his life, Harmony Hauser, in 2015. They were to be married on June 24th of this year. He was eager to begin the next chapter of his life with Harmony.

He was a kind and gentle man. He was smart and had a great sense of humor. He was generous, sincere, thoughtful, loyal and sentimental.

Survivors include his fiancée, Harmony Hauser, of Iowa City; his mother, Linda (Runkle) Wieseler and his sister, Jennifer Stokes, both of Sioux City; niece and nephew, Brittney and Zackary Stokes; maternal grandparents, Curtis and Betty Runkle of Spencer; his aunt, Sharon Vander Meer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and his beloved dog, Molly, and cat, Maurice and a multitude of dear friends.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Roman, and his paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the Jonathan Wieseler Memorial Fund has been established at the UICCU, 2525 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City, 52245.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City.
