Obituary for Hazel Earline Moll

Hazel Earline Moll, 82, died at Mercy Hospice Saturday, Dec 22, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 31st at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Massey officiating. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 AM at the Church, where a luncheon will follow the service. Family Committal Services will be held at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Iowa City Hospice.
Earline was born on March 17, 1936 in Fayette, Mo., the daughter of Earl and Hazel (Pemberton) Settle. The youngest of 5 siblings, Earline grew up on the family farm near Fayette. She married Kenneth L. Moll of Jackson Mo. on August 18, 1957. Ken and Earline moved to Iowa City following their wedding. In 1959 they began their family with the birth of their first child, Jeff, who was soon followed by their daughter, Katy, in 1961.
Earline was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. Her priority and commitment to her entire family and friends was always on display as she put their needs and desires in front of her own. As a mother, she was very active in the lives of her children. From Cub Scout and Brownie leader to cheering them through college and into work careers, she was constantly mentoring and guiding. Earline was a doting grandmother of four and took every opportunity to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives. From cattle shows, baseball games, horse shows and cross country, she was always there to encourage them.
She was accomplished at a variety of crafts, including her Ukranian dyed eggs, which were admired by many, and her needlework, which hangs on many walls. Her interests were varied and travel was high on her list. The early car and camping trips with the family exploring the U.S. gave way to cruises in the Greek Islands and trips to Europe in her later years. Her travel itinerary would often include her passion with birding as she was constantly in search of the perfect picture of a new bird to add to her photograph collection.
Survivors include her son, Jeff (Suzie) and their children, Emily and Christopher of Cincinnati, OH; her daughter, Katy Stutsman, and her sons, Tyler (Amanda) and Tanner (Paige) of Hills; and her sisters, Joy Phillips and Leanna (Gordon) Haugen.
Earline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ken; and her, brothers Jim and Phil.
