Obituary for Jeffrey Allen Pechous

”The Lord God is my strength and He will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains” - Habakkuk 3:19

On January 26, 2019 we lost a son, brother, uncle and friend, Jeffrey Allen Pechous, to a disease called Scleroderma. Jeff was an avid hunter, fisherman, best cook ever, a great landscaper and never missed his Hawkeyes or Cubbies while enjoying a cold one. He was 49-years old.

His quick wit, dry sense of humor and giant gentleness will be missed, but never forgotten. Jeff’s faith in God and God’s creations has enriched all of our lives, made the world a more beautiful place and prepared him for eternal life. Jeff was a fiercely loyal friend to those who were a part of his life and had an amazing tight knit group of friends.

Jeff attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Grade School and North High School in Davenport, Iowa. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. He worked at the Highlander, Pleasant Valley and Lear (IAC) Corporation.

Most important to Jeff was family and enjoying life with his parents, Mary and Ray Pechous, his brothers Pat, Donald (Nicki), Tim (Brittany) and his sisters Emily (Dan) Hartzler and Celeste Pechous. He surrounded himself with the massive love of his twelve nieces and nephews: Olivia, Owen, Ryan, Paul, Leo, Maeve, Jude, Josie, Charlie, Haddie, Sully and Eloise. He taught them the right way to build snow forts, race hot wheels and become champion over any video game, but finally found a major competitor in Mac Andersen. We know he is enjoying his new landscape with an unlimited number of deer, pheasants and wild turkey, while watching the hummingbirds.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with family and friends invited to attend a visitation from 9:30am – 11:00 with Mass at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall.

A private family, graveside service will be held at a different time.

In Lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the Pechous Family Scleroderma Fundraiser or St. Thomas More Capital Campaign.
