Obituary for Shirley Louise Fleming

Shirley Louise Fleming, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19th at the Solon Care Center Chapel in Solon.

Services are also planned at a later date in Eldora with burial in Sharon Cemetery, near Farmington, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1209 12th St, Eldora, Iowa 50627.
Shirley was born January 19, 1928 near Farmington, Iowa to Orville and Grace (Foster) Snider. Shirley married Robert Lee Fleming at Sharon Church in Farmington, Iowa on September 5, 1948.
Shirley was employed as the City Clerk in Danville for 5 years and then in Eldora for 17 years, retiring in 1999. In 2013, Shirley and Robert moved to Solon to be closer to family.
She was a very active member at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora, where Shirley sang in the church choir. She was also a member in many card clubs and was famous for her delicious pies.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert and their children, Randall (Jane) Fleming of Iowa City, IA, Linda (Michael) Anderson of Chicago, IL, Paul Fleming of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Scott Fleming of Kansas City, MO, and Jeff (Nike) Fleming of Iowa City; great-grandchildren, Connor, Jack and Lydia, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Heron, and brother, Vernon Snider.
