Sue was born April 24, 1953 in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter Delton and Marilyn (Laue) Lundquist. Sue was raised on a farm southeast of Paullina, Iowa, and attended Paullina Community Schools, graduating in 1971. She received her nursing degree in 1973 from the University of South Dakota.

On July 31, 1976, Sue was united in marriage to Stephen Baker at the Oakdale Free Church in Meriden, Iowa.

Sue was employed at Mercy Iowa City for over 40 years, where she was a nurse in obstetrics for many years and helped deliver hundreds of babies.

She was a member of Parkview Church where she enjoyed her weekly Bible Studies and coffee time with her many friends. Sue was a lifelong avid reader and puzzler. She and Steve loved to travel and had taken several trips to foreign countries.

Survivors include her loving husband, Steve and their children, Amy (Rick) Svendsen of Rochester, Minn. and Mark Baker of Denver, CO; two grandsons, Parker and Carter Svendsen;
her mother, Marilyn Lundquist and her brother Kent (Laura) Lundquist, both of Paullina; her in-laws, Foster and Betty Baker of Iowa City; and extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Delton, in 2002 and her grandparents.
