Carol Sloniker Pinkham of Iowa City passed away on February 6th, 2014 at Windmill Manor after a long illness. The family will have a private inurnment at a later date.

Carol was born October 6th, 1949 in Wisconsin. She was adopted by Miles and Lucille Sloniker, lived briefly in Kenosha WI, and spent her school years in Algona, IA. She shared her childhood with her brother, Kim James Sloniker, of North Liberty, IA.

Carol married Jimmy R. Pinkham on October 30, 1979. She became a step-parent of Tylila N. Pinkham of Iowa City, IA. On November 11 she gave birth to Beau J Pinkham of Iowa City, IA.
After years as a dental assistant and full-time parent, she returned to the University of Iowa to study nursing. She graduated in December 1994 with highest honors, first in her class.

Carol's passions embraced a love of nature, animals, and conservation. Her sea shell collection is extraordinary. She was an avid reader, lover of the arts, and fluent in Portuguese. If not an American, she would have been a Brazilian. She has many friends there and visited the country often. Her favorite sport was Hawkeye Wrestling. Her favorite flower was an iris. Her favorite food was potatoes.

Carol is survived by Jimmy, Beau, Tyli and Kim.

Those wishing to express remembrance are directed to The Nature Conservancy or Christian Children's Fund and make donations in her honor. Carol was in her health a giving and caring daughter, sister, wife, parent and friend. She would wish happiness and health to all with whom she shared her life.

Nosso céu tem mais estrelas,
Nossas várzeas têm mais flores.
Nossos bosques têm mais vida,
Nossa vida mais amores.
